About Department

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2008. Offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in VLSI, with an intake capacity of 120 students for undergraduate programs and 36 students for postgraduate programs.

The department holds accreditation from the NBA, and the college was awarded NAAC A+ accreditation in 2022, along with autonomous status in 2023.

The major objective of the department is to impart high-quality education to improve the academic skills of women students in gaining state of art knowledge in the area of Electronics and Communications to meet the needs of industry.

The Department has good infrastructure with spacious classrooms, well equipped laboratories, seminar hall, and staff room with individual staff cabins, HOD chamber, department library, centralized internet centre and R & D centre.

Centre of Excellences in the Department:
The department is equipped not only with well-established laboratories with advanced software and hardware and also has ARC (Applied Robot Control) Lab, in collaboration with the German center for advanced studies and European center for Mechatronics in order to help the students to develop the technical skills needed to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Malineni Lakshmaiah Womens Engineering College is the one and only womens engineering college having ARC lab in association with APSSDC.

Microchip and Embedded Systems Centre of Excellence:
The department's Centre of Excellence is dedicated to advancing research and education in microchip and embedded systems.

Drone Centre of Excellence:
The Drone Lab, funded by Garuda Aerospace, aims to advance research and development in drone technology.
1. Primary Objective: Advance research and development in drone technology.
2. Applications: Explore innovative uses of drones in agriculture, surveillance, and logistics.
3. Hands-On Experience: Provide practical training in drone design, programming, and operation.
4. Industry Collaboration: Promote partnerships with industry stakeholders for joint projects.
5. Skill Enhancement: Cultivate technical expertise in aerial robotics and data analysis

The department has 150 computers, installed with the required software (Synopsis, Microwind MENTOR GRAPHICS TOOLS, MATLAB, TASM, XILINX VIVALDO, MULTISIM etc.,)

Students Professional Chapters:
The IEEE Student Chapter, IEEE Women in Engineering (IEEE WIE), IEEE ComSoc Branch, and ISTE and IETE Professional Student Chapters focus on several key areas to support students in their professional journeys. Firstly, they enhance technical skills and career readiness by offering mentorship and networking opportunities. The chapters facilitate knowledge exchange in electrical engineering and communications, promoting innovation through creative projects. They also provide valuable insights into engineering career paths and job opportunities. Additionally, they foster relationships among students, professionals, and alumni by organizing collaborative projects and events. Finally, they grant access to research materials, educational tools, and publication opportunities to support student-led initiatives.

Students Club:
The AAvishkar Club(Society of Professional Innovative Communication Engineers) provides an active platform for students to enhance their technical and professional skills by tackling societal issues and creating practical solutions. Each semester, students select a social problem and develop innovative prototype solutions. The club hosts events like project expos, where students can demonstrate their knowledge and creativity. Through these initiatives, AAvishkar fosters innovation and collaboration, effectively equipping students for success in the realm of communication engineering.

SPARKS an IoT student club to help the students in co-curricular activities like technical presentations, workshops, seminars, Training programs
A supportive ecosystem is in place to promote start-ups, with several entrepreneurs already making their mark.
Students actively participate in hackathons, workshops, virtual internships, and other activities to develop and enhance their skills.

2. Workshops: Targeted workshops allow students to deepen their knowledge and refine specific competencies.

The department Library contains 201 books. During these 16 years of college history, the students of ECE have performed well in their academics by securing good pass percentage and owning good corporate jobs.
The ECE department is proudly led by Dr. D. Vijaya Saradhi, a distinguished academician with over 15 years of extensive teaching experience. Under his leadership, the department thrives in fostering innovation, academic excellence, and skill development among students. His expertise and commitment to education continue to inspire both faculty and students in achieving their professional and academic goals.

    Department Activities

    Activities for the Academic year 2015-16
    The Department of Commerce believes not only in Academic standards but also in imparting the relevant skills to prepare students for employment opportunities, entrepreneurial abilities and vocational skills. In this direction, VGDC organised two Certificate Courses titled as “Vocational Skill Building on SELLING SKILLS” and “Vocational Skill Building programme on Office Administration” in collaboration with the ICICI Academy for skills for a period of 3 months during January,2016 to March, 2016. In this skill development programme, 44 students of B.Com were trained by honing their skills.

    The department library occupies a unique place in academic and research activities. The library maintains an excellent collection of text books, IEEE and ISTE journals and newsletters, project reports, CDs and other documents/materials for quick reference.
